How I Work

Managing anxiety and life stressors are very much a part of my therapeutic practice. When addressing anxiety and stress, I implement a variety of strategies. The process begins with identifying what triggers your anxiety or stress, followed by setting realistic goals by breaking down larger objectives into smaller, more achievable tasks. A significant part of this approach involves a mindset shift, where I encourage the replacement of negative thoughts with more positive, realistic ones. Additionally, I emphasize the importance of learning to say no, which is crucial for establishing healthy boundaries and prioritizing self-care by declining extra responsibilities. It's essential to acknowledge that every individual's experience with anxiety and stress is unique, and sometimes finding the most effective strategy requires some experimentation.

For trauma treatment, my approach is multifaceted. It includes trauma-focused therapies like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help process traumatic memories. Art or expressive therapies are also integral, providing creative avenues such as art, music, or writing for emotional expression and processing. I incorporate mindfulness and grounding techniques, like deep breathing and guided imagery, to help individuals stay present and manage overwhelming emotions. Self-care is a critical component, and I stress the importance of activities that promote well-being, including getting adequate sleep and engaging in enjoyable hobbies. Educating about trauma and its effects is also a part of my practice, empowering clients with knowledge to understand and aid their healing process. Additionally, safety planning is developed to manage triggers and cope with distressing situations. Trauma treatment is highly complex and personalized, and professional guidance is crucial for a comprehensive and tailored approach to the healing process.
